CHILDREN'S CURRICULUM PLACEMENT TEST
Learning English with Laughter Children’s ESL Placement Tests are designed to assist schools in the classroom placement of their students. Five tests with answers are included in this booklet. Children with no English should start with Textbook 1A. These tests provide schools with placement information for children who have some English to those who are more advanced and need to transfer to the ESL Curriculum Teen-Adult series. Teachers and administrators will find a detailed outline for deciding which test is appropriate for specific groups of children at the beginning of the booklet.
Book 1A From A to L
BOOK 1A: FROM A TO L (Interest Level: 5 to 6 years - Second Edition)
This
is the 1st set of textbooks in a series of 10 sets. Each set includes a Student
Book of 37 pages for 12 lessons, a Practice Book of 24 pages that provides
independent student work and a Teacher's Guide of 46 pages of colorful games
and a Test. This set is designed for young children with little or no knowledge
of English. It introduces the alphabet from A to L teaching the letter names
and initial sounds. Numbers are introduced from 1 to 10. The children
participate in understanding and repeating simple key sentences presented with
pictures. Some reading readiness is experienced by identifying similarities and
differences in pictures and symbols.

Alphabet Animals From A To L (Interest Level 6-8 years)
A NEW APPROACH
This Series offers a different approach to introducing the English Alphabet to ESL/EFL students, aged 6 to 8. Presented in a graphics novel format, it is assumed that they are ready to listen, understand, speak and read a second language.
Children love animals! In each chapter the new alphabet letter and animal information is introduced by Panda Bear, who is their teacher. Panda Bear’s message prepares them to follow the storybook characters, George and Elizabeth, on their journeys to visit the animals. The children role-play the dialogue, answer simple questions and are encouraged to offer their ideas.

It introduces the alphabet from M to Z teaching the letter names and initial sounds. The children continue to participate in understanding and repeating simple key sentences presented with pictures. The children enjoy repeating simple poems and identifying the rhyming words.
